FLOR DE TOLOACHE

GRAMMY Nominee and Latin GRAMMY winner Flor de Toloache, make New York City history as its’ First and Only All-Women Mariachi. Founded in 2008, Flor de Toloache is led by singers Mireya I. Ramos & Shae Fiol. The members hail from diverse cultural backgrounds such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Cuba, Nicaragua and the United States. While working to preserve centuries old traditions of Mariachi, their melange of the traditional and the modern pushes the boundaries of the genre and brings Mariachi music to new audiences leading to headlines like “The new kings of Mariachi are all women” -Huff Post and “alt-Mariachi” Rolling Stone.

They’ve grown from marathon performances in dimly lit New York restaurants to now-legendary impromptu subway shows to lighting up NPR Music’s “Tiny Desk” and playing the steps of The White House. It’s why everyone from Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys to John Legend has jumped at the chance to collaborate with them.

In 2014, the group served up their first full-length LP, Mariachi Flor de Toloache. Not long after, they joined forces with Auerbach on The Arcs’ debut, Yours, Dreamily, appearing on six tracks and touring together. Flor de Toloache took flight on 2017’s Las Caras Lindas, receiving a Latin GRAMMY® Award in the category of “Best Ranchero/Mariachi Album.” 2019 saw them deliver Indestructible highlighted by duets with John Legend, Miguel, and Alex Cuba. It even garnered a GRAMMY® Award nod in the category of “Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album.”

The 2022 follow-up Motherflower notably earned a GRAMMY® nomination for “Best Música Mexicana Album (Including Tejano).” KCRW spotlighted the single “Una Vida Y Otra Más” as “Today’s Top Tune.” Along the way, they graced the stages of Coachella and Osheaga in addition to performances on KEXP, Austin City Limits, and PBS, among others. Not to mention, they incited the applause of Pitchfork, Billboard, Oprah Magazine, and more. They’ve also partnered with brands such as Kate Spades, KIA, and Chapstick.

Flor de Toloache has emerged as a cultural force of nature. They only continue to break rules and challenge convention in 2024 and beyond with their own distinct alchemy.
