Following the release of The Afterthought Ecstasy (2010), Dasein (2016) & Gloire Éternelle (2021), Quebecois act First Fragment quickly became notorious for their unique style of extreme metal that combines death metal drumming & vocals, neoclassical riffing, 80s power metal-influenced lead guitar work, flamenco interludes, mind-melting fretless bass work & rhythmic grooves straight out of a swing record. Armed with an eclectic sound that is both aggressive & catchy with lyrics all sung in French, the band quickly gained respect in the Quebec metal scene as well as on the international front, influencing the compositional style of numerous American & European bands of the newer generation.

Led by guitarist Phil Tougas (owner of Productions TSO & guitarist in Chthe’ilist, Atramentus, Funebrarum, Worm, Voidceremony and many more) & vocalist David AB, the band also features in their ranks bassist Dominic “Forest” Lapointe (Augury, BARF, Ex Beyond Creation), drummer Nicholas “Le Fou” Wells & 2nd guitarist Nick Miller (Unleash The Archers). Together, the five-piece embarked on five Canadian tours between 2016-2018 with acts like Archspire & Kronos before undertaking a long European tour with German technical death metal titans Obscura in 2019. In the meantime, the band kept a strong social media presence with over 15k subscribers & 2.5 million views on their youtube channel. With the recent release of the critically acclaimed “Gloire Éternelle” via Unique Leader Records & Productions TSO, the band is now ready to go back on the road to promote their music.
