VIMIC

“…These guys and this album pushed me to not only relearn how to walk, but how to play the drums again. Open Your Omen is the rebirth of the rest of my life.”

– Joey Jordison (Revolver Magazine, October 2017)

VIMIC is Joey Jordison, Jed Simon, Kyle Konkiel, Matthew Tarach, Kalen Chase, and Steve Marshall. After 18 years as the drummer of Slipknot, Joey Jordison parted ways with the seminal American metal band and started VIMIC from the pieces of his former side project, Scar the Martyr. Along with Scar mates Jed Simon (guitar), Kyle Konkiel (bass), Matthew Tarach (keyboards), and Kris Norris (guitar), Jordison recruited Kalen Chase as the vocalist for the new group. The sextet began recording their debut with Kato Khandwala (My Chemical Romance, Breaking Benjamin, The Pretty Reckless), creating a sound familiar to fans of Jordison’s ballistic percussion with Slipknot mixed with a post-grunge, downtuned guitar sludge similar to Machine Head, Chevelle, and Volbeat. Their first single, “Simple Skeletons,” was released in May 2016. Norris left the band soon after, as VIMIC released the follow-up “She Sees Everything.” A third song, “My Fate,” arrived in June 2016, before what would wind up being the last VIMIC release, “Fail Me (My Temple)” featuring Dave Mustaine in October 2017, heralding the arrival of their debut LP, Open Your Omen.

After years of working to secure the rights to the music, the Jordison Family Estate is releasing Open Your Omen independently to get the album into the hands of the fans that have been asking for it for years. Joey didn’t do anything small. After raising nearly $90,000 in a Kickstarter campaign, the family plans to release this album the way he would have wanted; with the designs he was so actively involved with creating for the CD, double LP, merch, and with the support of his fans to make the biggest splash we can upon release.
