Since their explosive introduction in 2021, Brisbane Nu-Metal quartet Headwreck are continuing to “carve their own unique mark in the Australian alternative music community” (Good Call Live, 2024.). The group, made up of vocalist Connor Hickman, guitarist Jamo Benadie, bassist Dayne Paix, and drummer Colby Horton, have locked down their signature glitch-heavy sound, making each release feel totally authentic, while still appealing to fans of heavy-acts the likes of Moodring, Linkin Park, Northlane, and Make Them Suffer, through soaring melodic choruses and low-tuned guitars.
The debut single Freefall (2021) gave us a small, yet impressive, taste of what Headwreck was capable of, and upon the release of their first EP Glamourise Demise the same year, the quintet began making some serious noise, landing feature spots on Triple J Unearthed, and selling out all physicals within only 48 hours.
Headwreck entered their second wave in 2023, releasing their sophomore EP Reflection Room, and in 2024, they came back once again to annihilate with chaotic-single Buzzsaw, which garnered over 100,000 streams in two months, and earned television features on both Channel 7 AFL, and Rage.
Through all of this time, Headwreck had also left their mark as an unmissable live act, showcasing their dominating live show on nationwide stages, and landing on lineups amongst bigtime heavy-hitters We Came as Romans, Paledusk, The Story So Far, Thornhill, and Invent Animate.
With a refreshing DIY-rebrand at the forefront of the band’s impending third-wave, and plenty of new music to come, it is safe to say Headwreck are on track to prove to the world how they got their name.
